On November 18, 1929, the Olympic experienced a strange event. When two days from New York,
the whole ship suddenly started to shake for no apparent reason. Watchmen confirmed
that
there was no other vessel nearby so a collision could be excluded. The possibility of a dropped
propeller blade was also out of the question. Surely, the crew shivered when they found out
that they happened to be exactly above the Titanic’s grave some 12,000 feet below.
The wireless men later confirmed that there had been an underwater earthquake
causing the shaking.
