The Olympic was very similar to her larger sisters, but is easily distinguished by her open first class promenade. Both the Titanic and the Britannic had the forward portion of the first class promenade closed off. Because few pictures exist of Titanic, many interior shots of the vessel were actually taken on Olympic. If Olympic (or its ill-fated sister Titanic) was to sail to New York today, it would not be able to reach the pier where it used to moor at the end of Atlantic crossings. The old liner would be too tall to fit under modern bridges built since its retirement. |
